Vista x64 drivers for Dac-2

Postby Vista x64 » Tue Aug 19, 2008 12:55 pm

Is there any Vista x64 drivers for Dac-2 available?
If not, when will Vista x64 drivers be available?

If it doesn't work with the current drivers, then it's not going to ever work on the 64bit version of vista. The DAC-2 has been discontinued for many months now.

Temporary driver solution

Postby Vista x64 » Wed Aug 20, 2008 2:11 pm

After some research I actually managed to get my Dac-2 to work under Vista x64. I had to force the installation of generic drivers from the communication chip manufacurer FTDI (http://www.ftdichip.com). New drivers (version 2.04.06) for Vista x86 and Vista x64 were released on 20th March 2008.

I guess the only work needed to get the drivers official is for the developers at Digital 1 to alter the PID of the INF file and supply a digital signature for the driver package. But if the DAC-2 is not supported anymore, then I guess we need to do a messy installation.

By the way, my DAC-2 now works flawlessly with PCDJ Reflex on Vista x64.

FTDI also have drivers for Mac OS 8,OS 9 & OS X so when the Mac version of Reflex and DEX (yes Adion is working on a Mac version of DJDecks/DEX) are available the DAC2 should still work provided Reflex/Dex has the code to talk to the DAC2. The PID & INF files are very easy to hack for these drivers.

Will this fix work for any laptop that has vista 64 bit version installed? I tried loading the drivers but vista does not recognized the inf files. I even went as far as selecting the file manually and still nothing. I tried it on my older compaq with xp loaded on it and I was able to load the drivers and the dac-2 worked after a quick reboot of the laptop. I will test this "fix" on my HP dv5se and report back with the results.

Thanxxx!!!!

I am very new to this DAC-2 setup situation.. Which driver do I download from the ftdichip site? I am currently running PCDJ FX with Vista 64, I ran the installation, rebooted, and it still is not detecting. Thank you!

you need the VCP drivers, you may have to hack the VID and PID codes.
