80s would work pretty good look into it therer is alot of 80s out there from rock
easylistning
dance
old school rap(no harsh language there)
pop
breakbeat
and then some

how about latin music? salsa
merengue
cumbias
and tings of that sort
then you can also move into the 90s easily
feel the crowd, move the crowd, mix it up and play it loud!!:)

do people ever check dates when they reply to posts?
the original post is date 02-08-2005, I don't think it makes much sense replying to it anymore...

And the original poster has only had 2 post. I don't think he's been back.

At least it got some activity in this forum.

This has been my venue for the past 7 years, only the difference is that I get to play to a 25-65 year old crowd. Now thats a range. I also play in cohesion with a live band and thye do most of the old disco and pop and rock stuff from the 70's to the 80's.
I start out with light modern rock or country to prince and MJ, pending on the crowd at hand and work my way up the bmp scale with dance music, r and b, and pop. I usually start bringing in somewhat of the older crowd in since the younger crowd is a little more lenient in the tunes they want to hear and gradually work in new tunes that match up with the old tunes per beat and "song feel". Later, as the night continues, I use more current stuff. The club is small that Im at (300 people), but I usually always fill the floor.
songs usually: Montel Jordan- this is how we do it, George clinton- atomic dog, prince- Kiss, anything michael jackson, usher, ntrance, bee gees, lakeside, tone loc, cameo, etc.
